I wanted to know if my aquarium plants are growing, so I recorded a time-lapse video of them while I slept. If you're like me and you have a "loop" option when you right click on videos, that's the best way to view this as it's only 4 seconds long. It's 9600 times faster than real life.

I put the jar of snails that were on the plants behind the tank in case the video turned out completely motionless. Which it basically did.

There might be some slow growth on the plant at the top that comes in from the right. I think it's mostly moving up just because before this video started I took the heater out of the tank so I could put it in the other tank where the fish are. However, one of the leaves moves downward more than necessary to avoid sticking out of the water, making me think it's actually growing. I think the plant at the bottom only moves because I moved that moss stick that goes across the whole bottom just before I started recording and it's slowly sliding down onto that plant.

Here's 48 minutes of the fish swimming around at 60x speed.

...and here's a timelapse from yesterday which highlighted to me that one of the tetras isn't doing so well. You can see that he mostly lingers under the filter intake, swimming away now and then but then returning.

A second tetra died later on Monday, and I'm not going to be surprised if this one dies too. IDK why I thought it was a good idea to buy them from the store where I got the ghost shrimp that had parasites, but I'm feeling like that was a bad idea now.

I tried to get close-ups of the fish, but it's hard to follow them around.

So then I tried a wider stationary shot, but they kept swimming out of it.

I love manual focus. It's kind of a PITA but I'm sure that with auto-focus this would just be a video of the camera constantly focusing on the wrong thing.
